Free Mp3 players and free membership to Mp3 music download sites are being offered as a marketing tool, by some of the big names in telephone companies. The aim is to attract new broadband, DSL connected customers. Free MP3

Free Mp3 downloads are also being offered as a marketing tool by Mp3 download hosting sites. By offering free Mp3 music and free ringtone downloads, they attract users who often land up purchasing other Mp3 songs.

The free and paid for downloaded Mp3 songs are then stored to file on the users Mp3 player, enabling them to listen to downloaded Mp3 music, whilst on the move.

Mp3 players have changed the face of mobile music. Gone are the walkmen and discmen that were clumsy and sensitive, making listening to music while travelling not always so pleasant. The Mp3 player is tiny, compact and convenient, and the downloaded songs are all songs of your choice.

And it's not only Mp3 music. By means of an Mp3 converter, one can download lectures, lessons and educational matter to your Mp3 player.

An Mp3 converter can also be downloaded for free off the internet. You just need to know where to look.

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Steve Jobs posted an open message to record studios on Tuesday, asking them to abolish security software that prevents music bought online from playing on different types of MP3 players. Apple would "wholeheartedly" embrace eliminating Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology that prevents songs downloaded from its online iTunes music store from being played on iPod rivals, Jobs said. Jobs urged the world's major record studios to stop mandating Apple, Microsoft, Sony and other MP3 makers bind music sold at their online stores with their respective players to guard against rampant duplication. "DRMs haven't worked, and may never work, to halt music piracy," Jobs wrote in a letter on the Apple website. Fewer than two billion DRM-protected songs were sold online worldwide last year while more than 20 billion songs were sold on compact disks, which can be freely copied onto computers or digital music players, according to Jobs....

(ARA) - College is expensive, and we're not just talking about tuition. That may be the biggest chunk, but when you think about it, college kids are basically setting up a second household, and incurring all the expenses that go along with that, from rent if they're living off campus, to long-distance phone service.Students heading off to college need to furnish their dorm rooms or apartments, which means buying everything from sheets to coffeemakers to futons. And state-of-the-art electronics are a given, such as laptop computers, MP3 players, stereo systems, even flat screen televisions. But despite having all the comforts of home, college students also need money to spend on socializing - movies, pizza and concerts, for example. All of this adds up, for both parents and students. But there are ways to cut costs without sacrificing the college experience....
