The shareware of free games
Posted Wednesday, January 25, 2006 6:23:57 PM by Rose Martins

Free computer games are there for the taking. You can download free games from the internet to your PC, play free games online or download these free games from the web to your handheld mobile device, allowing you to play whenever and whereever. Free games

A lot of these free games are just demo game models, but that doesn't mean that you can't play the game and get hours worth out of it. And there are free games for every age and all interests. There are free games for kids, free casino games for the gambler, free card games for the bridge, solletaire or poker player and free arcade games for those who love the action fighting games, puc man and pinball.

A lot of the more complicated, technologically advanced free computer games, are created with Flash. Playing these games mean building and/or destroying empires, driving cars at horrific speeds while dodging all sorts of obsticles and assimilated flights at thousands of feet above sea level.

And who says computer games aren't a team sport? Many of these free game downloads are challenges between partners or even 3 to see who can reach the highest level, or muscle another out of playing.

Police have their hands full at X Games
Posted Monday, January 29, 2007 2:57:29 PM by Blog57 Team
More than two dozen law enforcement officers had their hands full over Winter X Games weekend, but as of press time on Sunday, most of the reported offenses were alcohol related -- over consumption, underage consumption and disorderly conduct. "We had quite a few of those (disorderly conduct)," said Sgt. Linda Consuegra of the Aspen Police Department. One woman, whose name was not released, was hit in the face in the vicinity of Waters Avenue, on the east side of Aspen near the Gant. The woman admitted herself to Aspen Valley Hospital for treatment, Consuegra said, and police might have a suspect in the assault. A record number of people attended this year's ESPN Winter X Games, according to organizers, and many of those folks spilled over into downtown Aspen Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, where they packed bars whose cover charges were $10 and more....

Billups' free throws lift Pistons in final seconds
Posted Wednesday, December 27, 2006 2:56:57 PM by Blog57 Team
Chauncey Billups made two free throws with 7.2 seconds left to give the Detroit Pistons their fifth straight win, 92-91, over the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday. Billups, who missed nine of his 10 shots from the floor, was fouled by Vince Carter on a fast break after Jason Kidd missed a 3-pointer that could have clinched the game for New Jersey. On the ensuing possession, Carter missed a pull-up jumper with 1.5 seconds to go after a collision that knocked Rasheed Wallace to the court. Nets coach Lawrence Frank argued the call and had to be restrained by assistant coaches from going after the officials at the buzzer. Detroit got 21 points apiece from Wallace and Richard Hamilton. Carter had 28 and Richard Jefferson added 18 for the Nets, who have lost three in a row. NEW JERSEY (91): Jefferson 8-12 2-5 18, Moore 2-2 4-4 8, Collins 5-8 4-6 14, Carter 6-17 14-15 28, Kidd 5-14 2-2 13, Boone 2-3 2-5 6, Adams 1-4 0-0 2, House 1-5 0-0 2....

Warriors' free throws won't fall

So far, the Warriors do not merit reference in any promotional literature for the free-throw-shooting camps Hal Wissel runs in New Jersey. In fact, if things keep up at this rate, Wissel might want to deny ever working with this club. Wissel -- who has worked with five other NBA organizations -- was supposed to be the answer to the Warriors' woes at the foul line, where they shot just 71.8 percent last season and finished 26th in the league. Coach Don Nelson brought him in as an assistant coach for player development, and the pair worked hard throughout October implementing a free-throw program that included a technical tuneup for many players' form and a commitment to continued practice. The result heading into tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs? The Warriors are shooting 67.2 percent and rank last in the league....

Chris Ekstrand: From undrafted to NBA starters
Posted Monday, November 13, 2006 10:58:29 PM by Blog57 Team
NBA games are filled with dazzling stars, guys whose spectacular talents were apparent the first time you saw them playing in college, or even earlier, in the McDonald's All-American Game. Many were household names to basketball fans before they needed to shave. From a distance, it sometimes seems like every player who ends up succeeding in the NBA was a sure thing from the very beginning. Step One, hear your name called on draft night. Step Two, place the hat of the team that just made you an instant millionaire on your head. Step Three, shake David Stern's hand and smile for the cameras. But some of the NBA's best players never even got to Step One: hearing their name called during the NBA's two-round draft. And despite being overlooked, underrated or just plain forgotten about, there are 12 current NBA starters who persevered and made it, anyway....

Rogers: This year's free-agent market favors players
Posted Friday, November 10, 2006 3:07:23 AM by Blog57 Team
With a new labor agreement and record revenue and attendance, this might be the best year to be a free agent since the insanity of 2000, when guys like Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Mike Hampton, Denny Neagle and Darren Dreifort struck it rich. This is again a great time to be an agent or a guy with a 90-plus fastball. It's not quite as pleasant or exciting for general managers and other club executives, who are expected to fill their needs without appearing reckless in terms of money, years and perks (including the always-popular no-trade clause). One club executive says the question isn't whether players will be overpriced but whether anyone will find bargains. "What with most teams having money to spend, most free agents will be overpriced," he said. "I can't imagine many being underpriced in this market....

Beijing 2008 May Introduce Car-Free Days
Posted Tuesday, November 07, 2006 10:57:08 PM by Blog57 Team
Du Shaozhong, deputy head of Beijings Environmental Protection Bureau, said Beijing may expand a campaign urging people to take public transport to work and could introduce totally car-free days ahead of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games following a voluntary effort to encourage people not to drive during the China-Africa summit last weekend. Du told a news conference, we believe that cutting down on driving is helpful to the general Olympic spirit. I think drivers and the general public were quite enthusiastic about this campaign and I believe we could continue with this kind of activity. The municipal government issued a letter to Beijing citizens to use more public buses instead of private vehicles during the summit that was held November 1-5 and asked the various departments to control their own auto traffic volume and rearrange office hours to help decrease urban traffic flow....

_ Veteran Hanshin Tigers outfielder Tomoaki Kanemoto said Sunday he intends to sign a new deal with the Central League team after filing for free agency. Kanemoto, known for his ongoing endurance streak of consecutive game appearances without missing an inning, said he plans to declare free agency before Tuesday's deadline but ruled out the possibility of negotiating a deal with any other team. The 38-year-old cleanup hitter batted .303 and led the team with 26 homers and 98 RBIs in 2006. He has stretched his streak of playing every inning of every regular-season game to a record 1,042. Meanwhile, Yomiuri Giants infielder Hiroki Kokubo is set to file for free agency amid speculation that he will likely return to the Softbank Hawks, whom he played for until 2003, after three years with the Tokyo club....

PETALING JAYA: National football coach Norizan Bakar is hoping to maintain an injury free squad for the Doha Asian Games. The final phase of training begins at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya tomorrow and Norizan said that he would not risk the players to injury ahead of the opening Group E match against Oman on Nov 29. We have had enough of injury problems. We dont want to see more players going on the crock list to disrupt my plans, said Norizan yesterday. In the final run-up to the Games, we will concentrate on game plans and strategies. Several established players are out of the team because of long-term injuries. Among them are forwards Akmal Rizal Rakhli, Indra Putra Mahayuddin and Mohd Safee Sali. The remaining strikers in the training squad include Rudie Ramli, Saramsak Kram, Norsharul Azahar and Mohd Saufi Ibrahim. Norizan said that he would name the final squad after three friendly matches against local sides. There are six overage players vying for three places in the team for the Under-23 tournament....
